Hi, Friends!

Thank you for your interest in Cooking Up a Storm. It really is a project that is near and dear to my heart, and I'm so thrilled that you are sharing in it with me.

About the Book:

This book was created as my Senior Thesis project as a Communication Design major at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. It chronicles my family's lifetime love of food and fellowship. Like Ol' ol Blue Eyes himself said, "You can't have one without the other." Part of the title is an idiom meaning "a great amount with fury or intensity." If you have ever seen the kitchen after our family gets through with it, you will understand why I decided on this title. As I mentioned before, this cookbook was created as a thesis project for my B.F.A, but has transpired into so much more. Throughout the process, the book has become so precious to me and I am so thankful to have had the experience to collect recipes from loved ones that may have been lost had I not embarked on this project. The people in this book are the people that are most near & dear to my heart. My parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends that are just as dear as family, and now that I'm engaged, it includes my fiance and my new family.

Two Variations:
Hardcover

The hardcover version is printed and shipped by Blurb.com. I don't handle any of the ordering process of this variation. It can be purchased here and retails for $52.79. It is printed on Premium Paper with a Matte Finish, and is full color (hence the higher cost). It was originally purchased by me as a means of displaying a gallery-appropriate version of my thesis project, but it is definitely still available for purchase if you'd rather have a hardcover version.

Spiral Bound

I have collaborated with SIUC's Printing & Duplicating Department to produce a more affordable option of "Cooking Up a Storm," since the original hardback version was purchased by me as a means of displaying a gallery-appropriate version of my thesis project. The spiral version will still be a 7" x 7" cookbook with black & white recipe pages and color dividers, photos, and covers. It will be available for pre-pay order for $20, plus $4.95 for USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate shipping if you are not local. Feel free to view the preview of the book to get an idea of the style of this book here but please note that this version varies from the hardcover version seen in the preview.
